The violance against "National Council" in Zugdidi

The violations of human rights and election code are continuing in regions. The protest meeting will be held in Zugdidi on 31 of March. The numerous acts of violence occurred before starting of the meeting. The pressure on our representatives is rising from the local government and MIA officials in the region. We are sending you the descriptions of facts that happened before starting the meeting in Zugdidi center.
On 31 of march, at 4:00am in Tsaishi, Zugdidi region police stopped the car owned by political movement “Justice for Georgia” with was carrying moving stage. Police evacuated the car to penalty park, in Senaki region, instead of taking it to Zugdidi. Police has told to the driver that the car will be free to go as soon as the meeting in Zugdidi will be over.
Starting from the morning in Samegrelo the government officials are threatening people and demanding from them not to go to the meeting in Zugdidi, which is organized by “National Council”.
In Bandza, Martvili region the car with 5 persons was stopped which was driving to Zugdidi on to attend the meeting.
In Sepieti, Abasha region Police blocked the road to Zugdidi, Partos Police officers are threatening to the people not to dear going to Zugdidi.
In Kirtskhi, Chxorotsku region 7 cars with “National Council” supporters are stopped on the road. Polise has told them that they are stopped because they are driving to Zugdidi on the meeting.
In Daba Jvari, Tsalenjikha region the Patrol Police confiscated the driver’s licenses from all of the citizens and told them not to try going to Zugdidi.
In Tchkaduashi, Zugdidi region, the village attorney Gia Tchitanava and Police officers stopped 3 Buses with “National Council” supporters and demanded from them not to go to Zugdidi on “National Council”s meeting. In response people went to Zugdidi on 15 km distance by foot.
In Martvili police arrested 15 “National Council” supporters and took them to narcological center. All roads are closed by the police, the traffic is stopped.
The taxi was stopped by the police on the road from Senaki to Zugdidi. The persons and the taxi driver are arrested and taken to narcological center.
The same situation occurred in Chxorotsku all roads are closed by Police, the traffic is stopped.
In Xurcha, Zugdidi region, Police stopped two buses and the people are not able to go to Zugdidi.
In Zugdidi the head of Recourse Center Aza Jojua collected all teachers and school directors on meeting and demanded from them not to go to the meeting held by “National Council”. If any student of their school or the teacher will be noticed at the meeting they will loose their jobs.
Despite the actions made by MIA and Local Government, the protest meeting was held in Zugdidi center.
Political Movement “Justice for Georgia” demands from government to create normal electoral environment for election campaign. When the “National Council” will come to power all of the people that are violating the laws will be prosecuted.
The political movement “Justice for Georgia” condemns the illegal actions of government. The risk of continuing this kind of actions is high and we will inform you about other facts in the future.
